Marcel Kramer is Chief Executive Officer, South Stream. He has over the past 35 years held a number of positions in the international oil and gas indsutry. Prior to his recent appointment by Gazprom to head the South Stream Project, he was Chairman of the Executive Board and Chief Executive Officer of Gasunie from July 2005. He had joined Gasunie in 2003 as Managing Director of the Technlogy & Assets Division.

Mr Kramer holds a degree in Private and Corporate Law.  He was appopinted Fellow of the Institute of Petroleum in London in 1987 and is professionally active in various organisations such as the International Association of Energy Economists (IAEE) and the Energy Delta Institute (EDI) in the Netherlands (an educational institute founded by Gasunie, Gazprom and the University of Groningen).

From November 2007 to June 2010, Mr Kramer was President of Gas Infrastrucutre Europe (GIE), the European association of companies operating and/or owning pipeline networks, LNG terminals and gas storage facilities.  In 2008, Mr Kramer was elected President of the Royal Dutch Gas Association (KVGN), and he is one of the four Regional Co-ordinators of the International Gas Union, the global organisation bringing together the international gas indsutry and national associations.  In August 2009, Mr Kramer was appointed member of the Supervisory Board of Royal Boskalis Westminster nv.
